Storymaps for Cities and Towns

CLIENT: Aspen skiing company

As the host of the 2017 World Cup Finals, Aspen Skiing Company wanted to have a few special maps to help orient spectators, and visitors to the city of Aspen during the event.   Two maps were commissioned.  One map is of the race venue and finish area and the other is of the city of Aspen with race-related and historical markers illustrated throughout.

Breckenridge decided to host a unique event called Camp 9600 which is a gathering for tourism and outdoor industry professionals to come together and discuss the latest tactics in storytelling and new media.  I designed this venue map for their camp attendees to orient themselves among Breck's unique mountain town vibes and historical landmarks.

The Carbondale Chamber decided to commission this story map as a celebratory piece of art that locals and tourists can purchase around town.  The final dimensions on this map are 11x17 and prints are sold at the Chamber of Commerce office.  The chamber gave me about 20 landmarks they wanted depicted on the map.  Since I am a local it was easy to sneak in about 20 more tiny icons that make this map a little bit of a treasure hunt.
