Processing Motherhood Day Retreat
Processing Motherhood Day Retreat
Processing Motherhood :: A day of rest, creative inquiry, self exploration, ritual, and solidarity amongst a community of mothers at Avalanche Ranch Hot Springs.
Saturday October 11th, 2025 :: 9am-5pm
Birthing or raising a child is perhaps the highest form of creativity possible. Matrescence, the transformative journey of becoming a mother, is inherently a creative process. Yet, the demands of motherhood can often deplete us, leaving little room for the unique ways we once expressed ourselves.
If you’re feeling detached from the creative outlets that make you feel uniquely you or missing the ways you explored creativity before motherhood, this day retreat will offer you a way back. Together, we’ll explore the paradoxical gap between being a mother and a creative individual and discover how to blend these worlds.
Through watercolor painting, journaling, and group discussions, we’ll delve into our experiences as mothers. Spending the entire day at Avalanche Ranch will give us the opportunity to mix in rest, ritual, time in nature, and self care. What a lovely combo. 💜💜💜
No prior painting experience is necessary. A beautiful art supply kit and a few other gifts are included. This day retreat is for expecting mothers and mothers of children of any age. In order to create a sacred and restful container, we are asking all moms to come without babies or kids in tow.

Here are two testimonials from some mamas that took my class in the Spring:
The processing motherhood art class was the nourishment I’ve been craving on all level: artistically, emotionally, spiritually. Sarah creates such a spacious and intentional setting that facilitates deep connection to oneself and easy connection with others, old and new. I highly recommend it for artists and folks who have never painted. And for moms who are already deep in their self reflection journey or ones who still can’t drink their coffee hot. You won’t regret it! —Sylvie
Setting aside time for just myself to be with other women and explore my creativity and inner truth was a gift that no one but me could give to me. Under Sarah’s guidance I fell safe and free to not only learn a new artistic medium but to open up about what was really alive inside of me and stand more confidently in the knowing that I am never alone in my journey. I looked forward to this class every time and only wish it would have gone on and on forever and ever amen. —Claire
