The Woman within
a creative retreat exploring your season of life through art + feminine archetypes
DATE: NOVEMEBER 13-15, 2026
LOCATION: BEYUL RETREAT IN WESTERN COLORADO
Meet the woman you are, in the season you are in. This long weekend away is designed for Women of all ages and stages desiring community + creative exploration. Explore your next season of life through intentional creative practices, a healing environment deep in nature, and time away to tap into your innate wisdom. The four feminine archetypes will be woven into the fabric of our time together, giving you an opportunity to explore the many facets of who we are and where we find ourselves now.
This retreat is an invitation to slow down, turn inward, and listen to the woman within—the one who knows that every season has something to teach us, and every season has its own kind of beauty.
THrough the archetypes : Maiden, mother, queen, crone
There are seasons in life when we are becoming something new. Seasons when we are pouring ourselves into others. Seasons when we are discovering our own authority and learning to trust what we know. And seasons when we are releasing an old identity, gathering wisdom, and making space for what comes next.
The feminine archetypes of Maiden, Mother, Queen, and Crone offer us a lens for exploring these different energies—not as fixed stages or identities, but as archetypal qualities that can live within each of us throughout our lives.
Over the course of our time together, we’ll use creative practice, nature, reflection, and conversation to explore the season of life you are living now.
Whether you are experienced with the archetypes or not, this will be a gentle exploration with the opportunity to dive deeper as you go, learning from those both older and younger than you. Wisdom passed up and down the line in equal measures.
time and place matter
Beyul Retreat in November offers the perfect setting for deep nature immersion. You’ll be hanging out in cozy cabins beside the wood stove, taking morning walks on the local trails right from your door and spending time in the cedar sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub.
Late Fall is a time of deep reckoning. The changing of the seasons pulls us into a time of year when cycles are coming to completion in preparation for a period of rest and renewal. We will be utilizing these seasonal themes throughout the retreat to support our own journeys inward.
What cycle is coming to an end in your life and how are you supporting yourself in this time of personal transformation?
CREATIVE and contemplative PRACTICEs at the retreat
Rather than traditional art workshops, we'll use art as a playful modality to get to know ourselves better. No previous artistic experience is necessary. I’ll be providing the supplies and giving brief demos. The majority of the time will be yours to explore with your own curiosity.
This retreat will offer a mix of:
Watercolor painting — working intuitively with color, landscape, emotion, and imagery
Cyanotype nature printing — using sunlight and natural materials to witness beauty while making botanical prints
Journaling — daily prompts built around the retreat themes
Meditation — guided meditations offered daily
Nature walks — moving slowly through the landscape and noticing what you notice. Beyul has several large-scale art installations in the forest including a labyrinth and meditation spiral
Hot tub soaks // cedar sauna + cold plunge — an embodied practice of moving between intensity and stillness to explore your edge or just feel deeply held in warmth
Shared meals and women’s circles — the bread and butter of our time together - a place to be present, to be seen, and to lean from one another
This retreat will balance solo time with group time, offering you plenty of autonomy to get what you want and need out of the experience. There will be time to make, time to wander, time to rest, and time to connect and be surprised by the experience.
Come as you are. Make space for what is here. Meet the woman within.

How many people will be at the retreat? We anticipate our group size to be 8-10 participants for the three day retreat
Can you tell me more about the feminine archetypes theme? Archetypes are like different energies—not as fixed stages or identities, but as archetypal qualities that can live within each of us throughout our lives. The Maiden is the part of us that is curious, open, experimental, and willing to enter the unknown. The Mother is the energy of giving life to something—whether that is a child, a relationship, a creative practice, a community, an idea, or a new part of ourselves. The Queen is the part of us that knows herself. She recognizes what belongs in her life, what doesn't, and what she is ready to claim. The Crone carries the wisdom that comes from having lived, loved, lost, changed, and begun again. She understands that every season has an ending, and that endings can create the conditions for something new.
Tell me more about the creative practices… In addition to writing and journaling, the retreat will give you an introduction to watercolor painting and cyanotype nature printing. Sarah will give light instruction and be hands on to support you to use these tools in a playful, introspective way with plenty of prompts built around the retreat themes.
What if I don’t have any experience with art or painting? Even better! This retreat is about discovering your creative freedom, opening up your sense of curiosity, and having a playful experience with other artistic mediums to become more in touch with your voice and sense of play.
Tell me more about the food… Retreat meals includes your Friday dinner, Saturday snacks, lunch and dinner and Sunday snacks and brunch. These are all included in the retreat cost. Please bring your own breakfast to prepare each morning. Our mornings will be slow allowing you some time to yourself. You will have access to hot water and basic kitchen amenities to prepare a nourishing breakfast. The food will be almost entirely organic, homemade and focused around as many local and seasonal offerings as possible.
What if I have Dietary Restrictions? No problem. All retreat participants and their dietary needs will be accounted for before the event begins and the exact menu is set..
What can I do in my free time at Beyul? Rest and enjoy some time to yourself in your room or any of Beyul’s incredibly cozy nooks throughout the property. You’ll have 24 hour access to the cedar sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub as well as the main lodge. There are beautiful walking trails all throughout Beyul’s 32 acre property that extend into the surrounding National Forest. You’ll find art instillations and magical surprises throughout the property including riverfront access to the Frying Pan River, a beautiful pond, and a forest spiral meditation zone.
What is the weather like that time of year? November in the Rocky Mountains is very unpredictable! Please be ready for a range of weather conditions which could include anything from an early snow shower to warm sun and bare feet in the grass.
Travel details and getting to Beyul Retreat… Beyul retreat is located 26 miles up the Frying Pan River Road from Basalt, Colorado. The address is 26604 Frying Pan River Road, Meredith CO 81642. If we happen to be encountering snow, all wheel drive is recommended. If you are flying in for the Retreat, the closest airport is the Aspen Airport. Eagle/Vail airport is about a 90 minuet drive away and the Denver airport is about 4 hours drive. Sarah and Kerrie will try to work with those flying to arrange a shuttle to Beyul so you don’t need to rent a car.
What else should I know about Beyul Retreat? Beyul is far outside cell service but they do offer wifi in the main lodge. We hope this is a welcome step away from being “on” but we realize it is important to have connection to home. The wifi is very reliable and wifi calling works great from the Main Lodge. We recommend taking a deeper look into the FAQ page on Beyul’s website to get an even deeper feel for the venue.
testimonials for Sarah’s retreats
“I signed up for Sarah’s retreat because I have admired her painting style for years and I wanted to meet her and learn from her. It turns out, the retreat was so much more than learning a new painting style. It was a balm for my soul and a safe space to manifest my dream of becoming a mother, as well as a more confident artist and connected human being. As I write this testimonial, I am watching it snow out the window with my 2 month old son sleeping on my chest. It was an incredible few days at avalanche ranch and I am looking forward to the next retreat.”
-Sarah Carpenter from Idaho“Sarah is an amazing artist, teacher, and human. She creates a space that allows for both connection and reflection. She weaves her web of nurturing at multiple levels, offering us the opportunity to access beauty in the physical forms of nourishment as well as tending to our inner landscapes. I had high expectations, and quite honestly, they were exceeded. It was all of my favorite things in a multi-day feast for the senses and heart.”-Alyssa from Wisconsin
“Thank you for all the preparation, planning, and forethought. Thank you for your calm and centered energy. Thank you for the details you attended to throughout the entire experience. Thank you for being open and vulnerable yourself, making it easy for others to do the same. Thank you for sharing your time, your family and yourself. The overall feeling each day was one of being nourished, being held, being taken care of. This was exactly what I needed.”
-Karalea from California
